Word Game Wednesday

Favorite Word

As a little play on words, for Word Game Wednesday today you get to share your favorite piece of the Word.

Your favorite Bible verse, that is.

Bonus: Share a story or a reason why it's your favorite.

Here's Mine:

1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

Back in college, this was the Roommate theme verse. Back then, we focused more on the "all things are lawful," aspect, but now I see that the emphasis is more on the part that says "not all things are profitable," and "I will not be mastered by anything."

I embrace my freedom in Christ, but I temper it with the wisdom that comes with maturity, the willingness to do the things that are profitable, and the desire to be mastered by nothing but the Holy Spirit.

Your turn! Enjoy!

I realy like: 1 John 1:5: “…God is light; in Him there is no darkness.”

I love the idea of LIGHT over DARKNESS. It's in almost all the novels I've written. It's just so awesome.

In HIM there is no darkness. LOVE IT

At "college" a favorite verse of mine was James 1:12, "Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." Lets just say that many times I considered "college" a trial and that verse kept me motivated. :)

A new favorite of mine is James 2:14-26, but the entire passage can be summed up in verse 24, "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." 'Nuff said. :)

"Greater is He that is in you, than he who is in the world." I John 4:4

Some days when I feel like I have been kicked in the butt, it does me good to remember that God is with me and I am not defeated. It makes me get up and get going again.

Is 41:13
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, 'Fear not, I am the One Who helps you.'

My favorite Bible verse has always been 1 Corinthians 13. In fact, I learned a song about it when I went to camp as a kid that I still like to sing.
